March 9, 2003 Happy Birthday !~ My youngest son has a birthday tomorrow. He will be 8 years old! Where has the time went? I don't know about this kid, took him 3 tries to blow out his candles!
And for all of you with little kids (as opposed to my BIG kids) -You know how messy they are when they eat? And you think it will get better when they get older? Well, guess again.....
At least there were no utensils to clean! And the best present - A new bike!
********************************** SWISH March 15, 2003
It's UP! And it's OVER! WAYYYYY Over......the top of the backboard! And the crowd goes wild! My oldest son is #3 ************************************ Dino-rama
This is Chase's diorama he made all by himself. Full of dinosaurs and volcanos. Nests with eggs and water features. WOW! ********************************** Big Boy "Drawers" I bought the boys some new 'drawers'. You know, the new 'long legged brief' kind. I bought the 'extra large boy size' because they were on sale. Well, extra large are EXTRA large on the boys. So no big deal, they will grow. But my 7 yr old has decided he really likes these new 'drawers' and wants to wear them now. So this morning as he is pulling his 'drawers' up and out of his shorts, I tell him to "quit stretching them out!" He looks at me, puts his hands on his hips and sings, "I'm a big boy now"! (like from the Luv's diaper commercial or something like that) It was so funny! (a little explanation is in order for the use of the work 'drawers' instead of the normal word you would use - like under....ware. I found out by tracking my site that it seems that a few sick individuals out there search the internet for website that contain the words like under......ware. And some had found my site that way. There's sick-sick people out there folks!)
****************************** Happy Easter! When I was a little girl I was lucky enough to hold the Easter Bunny!
In fact, the Easter Bunny was so tired from hiding all those eggs, he was looking for a place to stay. I said, "Easter Bunny, you can stay with me!" So the Easter Bunny lived in a cardboard box in the house for awhile. (Remember, this was before all the fancy cages that they sell today.) And the Easter Bunny proved to be the Escape & Poop bunny until my dad built him a bunny cage outside! By the way, the Easter Bunny's real name is Lester. And if I remember right, my older sister & her husband got in BIG trouble for some reason that Easter.......seems to me it had something to do with my new bunny, Lester? ******************************** Dog Works I picked up another interesting book along the same lines as "Why Cats Paint" and "Why Paint Cats". This one is "Dog Works" by Vicki Mathison. The book studies the aesthetics of 'dog art'. Such as the arrangement of bones, or the spatial concepts of digging holes. Much to my surprise, I've noticed that I have also been blessed with artistic dogs. Max's medium is tissue. Puffs Plus is his preferred brand. I consider him a renaissance artist. I can compare his work to the likes of Monet's water garden paintings. Here is some of his work. He calls this piece "Exploding Kleenex"
Here is my little Maxie after a hard day of being a temperamental artist-
I have also noticed my 2 big girls have an artistic side.
Indie & KC's medium is old tee shirts that have become oil rags. They selectively choose an array of colors from the garage and artfully strew them across the yard after carefully ripping them to shreds. I like to refer to their work as "White Trash Deco" I've noticed the neighbors admiring their work as they drive past.............. **************************** Home Work May 1, 2003 My 8 yr old has 2 book reports to do every week for school. He is in 2nd grade and is a very smart and gifted child. It almost seems like he was born already knowing how to read. So back to his book reports - I told him he had to finish one book report before he could play computer. This week his book report directions were to pick 5 words out of the story he read and make a sentence with each word that doesn't pertain to the story. SO, my brilliant little genius decided to pick an easy ten page 'Star Wars' book. The words he chose were: 1. dinosaur The sentences went something like: Isn't he just soooooo funny? ********************** May 2, 2003 My Boy's Growing Up (otherwise known as: I thought cups were made for drinking out of....) My 9 yr old is moving up from Coach pitch to Kid pitch in baseball. Thus, he will need a protective cup this year. A few of the dads were discussing what they were going to tell their sons about this male rite of passage. One suggestion was to tell them that they will need to be 'fitted'. And in order to do that, they have to stick "it" in a machine that measures it. So my husband took it a step further and told our son that there is an old lady that will measure him for his cup. He was going on about how he would have to go in a fitting room with this lady and let her take measurements. Not to worry, no one else will be around, just this lady and her measuring tape. Our son just kept saying, "Uh-uh!" Our 8 yr old was also listening to this story, and they were both looking at each other with BIG eyes going, "NO WAYYY!" You know, we think it's barbaric when tribes if Africa send young men out in the jungle to spend the night alone to become a man. I wonder what they think about our strange rites of passage? ****************************** The Trouble with Turtles (part II) Last year to our surprise, we found a big snapping turtle in our yard after heavy rains. It was about the last thing we thought we'd find. It's not like big old snapping turtles live in our little creek. We ended up coaxing it into a big plastic trash can and taking it up-creek and releasing it. (Don't want this thing snapping off a dogs nose or biting off a kids finger!) So we've been having some heavy rains again this year. And another turtle has shown up! I think I have it figured out now, they are getting washed down the creek from farm ponds some how. So once again, we got the trash can out and went on our annual turtle release. This guy was a little smaller (not much!) than the turtle from last year, but much more lively. Hissing and snapping!

Watch out Jean - Frogs and Toads may not be your only fear Friday! ******************** We have a new resident here at Suchy Manor.
A bird has built a nest out of moss & lichen on top of the lights on the garage. It's the neatest nest! I'm not sure what kind of bird it is, just looks like a sparrow. I'll keep everyone updated once the babies arrive! We are getting so many birds at our feeder. Seems strange that winter it's quieter than the summer months. The Indigo Buntings have shown up. Beautiful Blues! We get tons of woodpeckers. Downey, Red headed, Flickers, Hairy Woodpeckers. And the little red Finches and yellow Orioles. Nuthatches, Cardinals and a couple Blue Jay families are flying around. I need a zoom lens for my camera to get some good pictures! @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Seems Mr Cat has also found the new nest! (Nest is on top of the light, Cat is on top of the truck)
Bad Cat! **************************************** Happy Mothers Day! 2003 I got a wonderful Mothers Day present! I new cabinet to keep all my bead paperwork and misc. bead stuff! It all used to set on a little table and looked cluttered and terrible!
Isn't it Beautiful! (and I still have room for MORE JUNK!) Oh, and on the wall to the right, there is a US map. I was planning on doing a learning thing with the kids. Every bead I sold, we were going to mark the city it was going to. I believe there's a total of 10 pins on the map and it's been there for a year......
